Home: a suburban obsession is an exhibition about the allure of home and the stories found within, inspired by one of the largest digitised photographic collections of Queensland houses.
The curatorial approach was highly community focused and resulted in:
- new research into the history of Queensland houses
- 5 new artistic works
- a digital experience of the Frank and Eunice Corley Collection — The Corley Explorer
- 5 digital stories
- a supplementary exhibition program of workshops and events
Outcomes from this exhibition include:
- 1,218,000 page views of the Corley Explorer
- 28,815 Corley house images geolocated by the general public (47% of collection)
- 35,767 visitors to State Library's gallery
- 42 events delivered with 3,190 total attendees
The exhibition was open from 7 December 2018 – 14 July 2019 in the slq Gallery, level 2, State Library of Queensland.
“My mind is still blown by the way you've hosted this collection... The team have done a fantastic job. I've thoroughly enjoyed time-travelling my way around my
childhood streets and suburbs and making matches, and it's caused me to dig deeper on my area's history than I ever have before -and it's fascinating.” - Exhibition visitor
